Starch wastewater contains protein, starch, sugars and suspensions, the wastewater is a highly dispersed hydrocolloid solution which is generally stable. The discharge of such wastewater without prior treatment is known to adversely affect the surrounded environmrent. The treatment mechanisms of contaminants in wastewater are highly dependent on the design and operational characteristics of the wastewater treatment plants (WWTPS).  This system using UASB instead of the hydrolysis acidification reaction to remove the BOD and COD. In order to remove the ammonia nitrogen and total nitrogen, we designed the contact oxidation process after the UASB.

Working process:


UASB:

The wastewater enters the cell by the water distributor, passing through the sludge layer and the sludge suspension layer, reacting with anaerobic microorganisms to produce biogas. Then the solid, liquid, and gas mixture using the separator to achive three-phase separation. After that, sludge will fall back to the sludge suspension zone, and the treated water will be discharged, the produced biogas will be recycled.

Contact oxidation:

Utilizing biological aerobic membrane to treat the wastewater. The system includes: filler(immersed in sewage), bio-membrane (on the surface of the filler), aeration system and cell. Under the aerobic condition, bio-membrane contacts the sewage fully, which removes the organic matter and nutrients from sewage by biodegradation reaction.
